Project 2 - Grids and Mood

Warm Colors
Autumn is a perfect time to take photos of reds, oranges, and yellows. All of these photos are either from my backyard, or from Washington Park. I'm happy with how this grid turned out. I first edited all the photos individually, I brought up the contrast and saturation on all of them to make the colors stand out. Then I made a grid with them all and put an edit on the whole grid to tie them together.

Cool Colors
I loved working with the cool colors. The greens, blues and purples all look great together, so I'm happy with how this grid turned out.

Color Complements
At first when I tried to put together these photos together in one grid it didn't look very good, but after a lot of editing on the whole grid I brightened all the colors to unite all the photos.

Monochrome
I chose out pictures of flowers I really liked that I've taken this year. and made them all black and white, and put a split tone on them to unite them.

Mood Photo
I took this at Multnomah Falls. I the colorful leaves really add to the mood. I edited it so that there would be more of a contrast between the warm and cool colors.  I think this portrays a mysterious, and majestic mood.

Project 2 Prework

Color Wheel
I love this example of the color wheel because it labels what colors are primary, secondary, and tertiary, and their names. I also like this color wheel because it shows different shades of each color.

James P. Blair
This image's use of blue really sets the mood of this photo. Blue is a calming and cool color, and I think Blair used a blue filter to edit the photo to enhance the mood, the calmness you feel when you look at it.

Project 1 - Framing and Composition

For our Framing and Composition Project, we learned about different photo techniques and took pictures using them. I took most of my photos in Downtown Portland and by my house. I chose these photos because of their demonstration of each example of framing and composition and for their colors and looks.

Rule of Thirds

This is one of my brothers, Marshall. I took it on the side of my house, and edited it so that it would be black and white. This is my favorite example of rule of thirds because I love black and white photos with people in them, and I thought it also was the most extreme example of rule of thirds I took.

Frame Within a Frame

I found this example of Frame within a Frame in downtown Portland. To edit it I made the colors more vibrant, especially the orange, green and red colors of the leaves. This is my favorite frame within a frame picture I took and edited because I love all the vibrant colors, and the two blue bars on either side capturing all the bright colors in the middle of them.

Close Up

My brother found this cricket outside on our deck. To edit it I made the green colors of the cricket a lot more vibrant and did the same thing with the wood deck. I also cropped the original picture so it could be a more extreme example of a close up. Out of all the close ups I took I like this one the best because of the contrast of the green on the dark wood. I also love all the detail on the crickets wings and body my camera was able to capture.

Birds Eye View

I took this on the top floor of a parking garage in Downtown Portland looking out over Pioneer Square. I edited this picture to be black and white so there is a big contrast between the light and dark colors. I like this picture because of the contrast of the shades of black, gray, and white.

Bugs Eye View

I took this picture on the same parking garage I used to take the Birds Eye View. To edit it I made the different shades of blue a lot more vibrant, and the image a lot more brighter. I really like this picture because my favorite color is blue, so I love all the different shades of it and especially the sky, the closer to the building it is the lighter it becomes until it's white.

Leading Lines

I used the railing from the a parking garage to shoot this picture. It was the morning so the sun was in the perfect place to get this shot. To edit this I made it slightly darker so the colors would be more visible, and so the first thing you notice in this picture is the sun. I love photos when you can the beams of the sun, so that's why I chose this one.

Diagonals

Even though this is a simple shot I liked how it turned out, especially with editing it to black and white. I took this of the corner of a shop in Downtown Portland. I feel like this is the best example of diagonals I took because this whole picture is made up of lines, and all of them are diagonal.

Filling the Frame

I love this picture because Autumn is my favorite season, and I love all the colors of the leaves in this. I took it outside my house, and edited it so the colors of the leaves would be more vibrant.

Camping

This summer my family and I went camping. We went to Oxbow park. It was raining most of the time we were there, but we still got to do a lot of fun activities. We went biking, and got to hike down to the sandy river.
